The traditional mantra chanting is a key to transform your inner being; this workshop will assuredly help to clam, stabilse and heal the mind through matra meditation. Who can Join this Course?

This course is meant for those who want to deepen their knowledge of Indian spiritual sciences like yoga, tantra and ayurveda. Basic knowledge of Sanskrit language opens innumerable possibilities of understanding, insight and personal experience.

The course is designed in two parts to allow for learning of each component in a relaxed manner.

The first part takes care of the very basic components that need to be mastered before we move on to the next level where we introduce compounds, suffixes, and causatives etc.

What We Learn?

 

Basic Sanskrit Part -1

In this two months, twice a week (30 hours course), we propose to cover:

  1. Initiation into the Devanagri alphabet ( 3hours)
  2. Verbs — conjugations for present, past and future
  3. Nouns — Masculine, Feminine and Neuter ( a, aa, u, ri and sa ending)
  4. Basic Pronouns- Sa(He), Saa (She) and Tat (That)
  5. Basic invocation mantras : (a) Om Ganananam. (b) Nattva Sarasvateem Deveem. (c)Nrittavasaane. (d) Maaheshwar Sutras
  6. Quotations (each class will end with learning a quotation, i.e. a pearl of wisdom from famous Sanskrit texts.

Prof. (Dr.) Alka Tyagi, a bilingual poet, researcher and translator

Prof. (Dr.) Alka Tyagi, a bilingual poet, researcher and translator, has been teaching English at Delhi University for more than 20 years. However, her philosophical and spiritual inclinations propelled her research interest in Ancient Indian literatures, yogic studies, Upanishads, and the non-dual Kashmiri Trika Śaivism. To deepen her understanding of the Sanskrit texts that she studied for her chosen research areas, Dr. Tyagi completed a second Masters, MA in Sanskrit from Delhi University.

She has authored five books, has co edited two, and has translated two books for Sahitya Akademi. Her research papers have been published in reputed journals. Three of her poetry collections- Sun ri Sakhi, Amaltaas, and Whispers at  the Ganga Ghat have also been published. Her recent book is Reconstructing Devotion through Narada Bhakti Sutras. 

Former Fellow  at IIAS, Shimla, she completed her monograph on Bhavana (Creative Contemplation)and Bhairava (Supreme Reality) in Kashmir Trika Shaivism, which is under publication. 

Dr. Tyagi has been an ardent practitioner and exponent of Yoga and meditation in the Satyananda Yoga tradition for over thirty years.

Understanding the roots of our existence through chanting and soaking oneself in the knowledge of our vedic traditions will help you to experience completeness within yourself; especially, those who feel that they are stuck in a cycle of denial and negative thoughts. The sacred sound (Mantra sadhana) which starts from your inner consciousness and will lead you to grow positively. Practicing mantras will help evolving one’s thinking and thoughts which resemble the power of mind.

Rishikesh Yogis Yogashala`s team of teachers have intricately designed the curriculum of the 200-hour TTC that covers yoga philosophy, meditation, yogic anatomy, pranayama, yoga adjustments alignment, teaching methodology. The students are offered to take a class to explore and experience the concepts of teaching yoga and transform into a classic yoga teacher. Sessions are conducted on different themes and on different variations, for different age groups, for people having physical limitations. We stay connected with our students even after the completion of the course incase of any guidance needed.

The Yoga Teacher Training course will give a direction about how to conduct a class. The level of teachings depends upon your dedication to teach. You can’t teach yoga after completing 100-hour Yoga Course. It will definitely give you an sense of what you should be learning and how you can continue to study and prepare yourself to become a successful Yoga Teacher.

The meals we serve are pure vegetarian and very healthy nutritious for a yoga practitioner. We do have vegan options for all our participants and also gluten-free options on request.

For the classes any comfortable fitness or yoga attire (yoga tights, pants, shorts etc) wil work. While exploring Rishikesh you can wear any decent clothing keeping in mind to not offend the spiritually of the place.

Yes. Airport transfer from Delhi and Dehradun is available. We also arrange transfers from railway/ bus stations nearby Rishikesh on request. Please note that the transfer are at extra cost and not part of the fee. We request to put your request well in advance to avoid any last minute hassles.
